  • EnerSys Ironclad® technology is a unique, square tubular plate design that provides up to 84% more surface area depending on battery size. Because the EnerSys Ironclad positive plate contains much more plate surface area than flat plate designs, the transfer of sulfate ions from electrolyte to the active material of the positive plate – the reaction that gives a battery its voltage – is considerably easier with an EnerSys Ironclad than it is with a flat plate. With lower resistance, EnerSys Ironclads are more efficient, waste less power as heat, and deliver more work at higher voltages.

The increase in work capacity between an EnerSys Ironclad tubular plate and a conventional flat plate battery of the same six-hour rating is called “The Ironclad Effect”. The effect varies with the duty cycle, but it typically delivers 15% more useable power – in some cases, considerably more. "The Ironclad Effect" results in better speed and more trips per hour or per day and fewer ampere-hours of discharge per trip. This effect multiplies: the higher the voltage, the faster the trip, the fewer ampere-hours used and the better the voltage for later trips. Rating for rating, EnerSys Ironclads produce more useable power and perform more actual per shift than other batteries…turning your productivity into profit.
